Business Promotion in 60 Second Snippets - Credit Card and ...

Time is of the essence in this work-a-day world. No one has enough time to spare to listen to a complicated business plan or to a strategic campaign designed to improve other people?s finances. It takes too much time and not too many people have the luxury of providing it. The company that discovers how to get their point across the fastest is going to be at a distinct marketing advantage. The best way to achieve this swift method of conveyance is through the commercial and it is an approach done best by the people at JG Wentworth.

Even early on in the company?s existence, they already realized just how important a smart marketing campaign can be. The company understood that one of the main challenges for any corporation is to get people to listen to what they had to say. Corporations are not always very popular and making people listen seemed to be a monumental task. Instead of going the conventional route, the firm opted to get creative and the result is a marketing campaign that can be best described as brilliant. The company introduced the public to Mr. Wentworth, an engaging new personality that spoke on behalf of the company. They featured him in various marketing ads, giving the company a face that people could immediately recognize. The marketing campaign gave the company a personality to latch onto and they discovered the power that exists within an effective commercial.

Capitalizing on their newfound audience thanks to their Mr. Wentworth commercials, the company decided to become more ambitious with their ads. In 2008, the company launched a new commercial known as Opera and the result was a downpour of positive JG Wentworth reviews and even more people to which they could promote to. The success of the ad stemmed from its great use of characters. By employing a cast of talented singers, the company not only had a great platform for their business, they also had a viral video that became a sensation online. By being able to condense their message into a neat commercial package, the company was able to promote itself effectively and expertly.

EDUCATION: School board invites parents to check out new ...

ST. CATHARINES ? Young children are active, curious learners who are just beginning to explore their world.

The District School Board of Niagara invites families to explore the new Parenting and Family Literacy Centre (PFLC) at Connaught Public School in St. Catharines.

The centre gives children from infancy to six years old a chance to get a head start in their learning through a variety of engaging and educational opportunities.

?At this young age, children learn through play, so the centres are bright, fun places to be that have plenty of games, books, music and toys for parents and children to experience together,? says Kelly McDonnell, DSBN Student Achievement Leader.

The PFLC is staffed by an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) who will further support children?s learning through story and music time activities. The PFLC also features a lending library with multilingual stories and parenting books.

The centre is open from 8:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. from Monday to Friday. There is no registration required, so parents/caregivers and their children are invited to drop by anytime. Snacks will be provided.

Connaught Public School is located at 28 Prince St. in St. Catharines.

Serving families all across Niagara, the DSBN also operates Parenting and Family Literacy Centres at Kate S. Durdan Public School in Niagara Falls, Rose Seaton Public School in Fort Erie, Plymouth Public School in Welland and Lincoln Centennial Public School in St. Catharines.

Parenting and Family Literacy Centres are supported through a grant from the Ministry of Education.

LIVE A WEALTLHY LIFE; MY DAY AT HABITAT FOR HUMANITY ...

Get ready for Barbara Friedberg?s upcoming book,??How to Get Rich; Wealth Building Guide for the Financially Illiterate.? (sign up above for first look)

I signed up months ago to build with Habitat for Humanity with our temple?s service day. I try to give back, love to build, and was excited to finally work on a Habitat home. Come Sunday morning, and I wasn?t feeling too energetic. Was this really how I wanted to spend my Sunday? Actually, I did not want to go when the time came.

Wealth in Life

Wealth in Life

I didn?t say anything to Jr. Carina, my daughter as we drove to the site. ?I was pleased the site was only a few miles from our home and it?s always a treat to have some mom and daughter time. (Always try to look at the positives :) ) During the orientation I was fascinated to learn that Habitat builds homes for folks world wide ?and each homeowner must contribute 500 hours to the construction of their own home.

I was still thinking about all the work I could have done had I stayed home.

The funny thing was, as we started measuring, cutting, drilling, and hammering I started to enjoy myself. Luckily, the sky was crystal blue and the temperature mild. We continued carrying the lumber, measuring, and building a complicated (for me) fence. At 10:30 there was a snack break and ?sandwiches for lunch at noon.

On the drive home, Jr Carina said she had so much fun she wanted to do it again next week. In spite of staple gunning insulation to the inside of the house, high on a scary ladder, she couldn?t contain her enthusiasm. When asked what was the most fun, Jr. replied, ?Doing something important and working with the homeowner.?

HOW HABITAT TRANSLATES INTO MORE MONEY

I came home physically exhausted, more tired than I?ve been in a long time. Yet, paradoxically, I was also clear headed and motivated to do a bit of work. I put the finishing touches on the final edit of How to Get Rich; Wealth Building Guide for the Financially Illiterate and sent it off?for the last pre publication steps. I tackled some other work duties with enthusiasm. How could 5 strenuous hours of challenging outdoor work leave me so motivated to do my paying work?

Doing something totally out of your routine offers your body and mind a mini-rebirth. Your?endorphin?s, mind, body, and?imagination have a chance to bloom. ?The result is unexpected vigor.

The takeaway, schedule in the unexpected. Get out of your routine. Don?t worry about ?getting everything done,? because life is never complete. Have an adventure and savor the beauty of the free opportunities life offers: time with kids, friends, hiking, giving back, and being creative. That?s what a wealthy life is all about!

And getting a bit of work done when I came home?. well that part will translate into more money.

ACTION STEP:

Get a notebook and keep it by the computer. Use it to keep all of your personal finance goals, thoughts, activities, and plans.

1. Put the computer away.

2. Get off your butt and do something different with someone special.

Samsung Galaxy S III mini adds 50 euro premium for NFC in Finland, coming to the UK this month

If you had planned to S-Beam your media around on Samsung's Galaxy S III mini, only to be disappointed by the lack of Near Field Communication on our UK review model, then we've got some good news for all twelve of you. Yes, Samsung has announced that Brits will be treated to an NFC iteration before the end of this particularly chilly January and it will arrive across the major carriers and in phone stores both online and real. While the announcement didn't arrive with a price tag, we've been tipped off to some pricing at Finnish retailer Gigantti, where the NFC version rings in at 349 euros. Sidestep the contactless communication, however, and you'll only have to pay 299 euros. There's the choice of both blue and white finishes on either model, but you'll still have to decide whether tappable file transfer and sharing warrants that 50 euros ($67) extra.

SAMSUNG ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF GALAXY S III MINI WITH NFC

New NFC variant set to hit shops at end of January

21st January 2013, London, UK - Samsung Mobile UK today announced that an NFC-enabled version of the Galaxy S III Mini smartphone will be available to buy in the UK from the end of January.
Owners of the new Galaxy S III Mini will be able to share content, such as photos, videos and music, much faster and more easily. Its S Beam feature allows a 10MB music file to be shared in just two seconds by simply tapping on another S Beam-enabled device, such as the Galaxy S III or Galaxy Note II, even without a Wi-Fi or cellular signal. By combining NFC and Wi-Fi Direct, S Beam is capable of sending larger files between phones, such as images, videos and music tracks.
The Galaxy S III Mini is powered by Android[TM] 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and packed with many of the same features available on the Galaxy S III, including S Voice which people can use to tell the phone to wake up, answer an incoming call, or even take a photo, and Direct Call which allows customers to automatically call someone they've just received a text by simply lifting the phone to their ear.
Simon Stanford, Vice President, Telecommunications & Networks, Samsung UK and Ireland said: "
"NFC technology and the digital wallet started to gain significant traction in 2012, particularly in the run up to the Olympics. It's an exciting time in the mobile market watching the next phase of its evolution take shape, so we're happy to announce that we are bringing these new experiences to our customers through our growing number of NFC-enabled devices."

The Galaxy S III Mini will be available to buy in the UK across all major networks, key high street and out of town electrical retailers and online retailers from the end of January.

Ben Horowitz: ?We Like To Invest In College Dropouts With Insane Ideas Going After Tiny Markets With No Way To Monetize?

P1110443At the DLD conference in Munich today, venture capitalist Ben Horowitz took the stage to discuss why he and his firm Andreessen Horowitz invests in a company and its founders. Last year, he said, Andreessen Horowitz found 2,355 companies that were potentially worth investing in that passed the company's initial screen. In the end, Andreesen Horowitz only closed 24 deals (excluding seed deals). The companies that made it, he cheekily argued, are those started by "college dropouts with insane ideas going after tiny markets with no way to monetize."

Medina, Ohio Gun Show Dealer Accidentally Shoots Man

MEDINA, Ohio -- Authorities say an accidental shooting at an Ohio gun show has left one man wounded.

Police in Medina (meh-DEYE'-nuh) say a gun dealer was checking out a semi-automatic handgun he'd bought Saturday when he accidentally pulled the trigger.

Police Chief Pat Berarducci (BEHR'-uh-doo-chee) says it appears the bullet struck the floor, then a longtime friend of the gun dealer. The man was wounded in the arm and leg.

Berarducci says the man was taken by helicopter to a Cleveland hospital. His condition isn't known.

Police say the gun's magazine had been removed from the firearm but one round remained in the chamber.

Medina is about 30 miles south of Cleveland.
